DG Fellows Showcase at Playwrights Horizons

In October 2013, I was part of the Dramatists Guild Fellows Program showcase at Playwrights Horizons. All of the fellows presented 8-minute segments of the musicals we had worked on all year (overseen by Michael Korie and Diana Son).

My collaborator Nick Myers and I presented the first few scenes and songs from BECOMING DAVID, a new musical comedy we're working on together (music by Nick, book and lyrics by me).

Brief synopsis of BECOMING DAVID:

When Chris is dumped by his art historian boyfriend, he decides to turn himself into a real-life version of Michelangelo’s “David” to become more desirable and win his boyfriend back. First order of business: getting the perfect body. Second: getting the curly hair. Third: going nude. Fourth: fighting Goliath. Things get messy when Ian, a bodybuilder at Planet Fitness who helps with Chris’s transformation, starts falling in love with him. BECOMING DAVID explores how far we are willing to go to change ourselves for someone else.
